About
Advice from the other side of the desk
Career Hub is a small library of practical articles for people who are applying, interviewing, negotiating, or trying to keep a career moving after they've landed somewhere.
Most job-search advice is written to be reassuring. That is a different job from being useful. The articles here try to explain what actually happens on the hiring side: how long a recruiter spends on a resume, what a hiring manager is measuring when they ask a soft question, why a rejection often has nothing to do with you.
How it's organized
Everything is filed by where you are in the process rather than by topic, because that's how the questions actually arrive.
- Applying — resumes, cover letters, and getting read.
- Interviewing — the room, and what's being assessed in it.
- Negotiating — asking for the number.
- Growing — skills, networks, and life after a no.
